Happy Landing Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 October 2026
An iPhone app by BITNEX Group Kft.
1. In short
Happy Landing helps nervous flyers: cards that explain what is happening on the plane, guided breathing, and a turbulence estimate for your route. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no location. What you tell the app stays on your iPhone.
2. What the app stores on your device
Your answers to the two first questions (what scares you most, when you fly next), your settings (haptics, appearance, reminders), the trip you save for Flight Conditions (the two airports, the departure time and the latest estimate), the flight in progress, and your flight log (airports, boarding and landing times, and how many times you opened I'm scared).
All of this is kept in the app's local storage on your iPhone. The app does not sync it anywhere; like other app data, it is part of your iPhone backup if you use one.
3. Flight Conditions
When you check a route, the app asks the public data service of the NOAA Aviation Weather Center (aviationweather.gov) for recent pilot reports inside map areas around your route, and for the current SIGMET and, over the United States, G-AIRMET advisories. The requests contain those map areas, not your name, not an identifier and not your departure time. Like any web request, they reach NOAA's servers from your IP address, under NOAA's own policies.
For a departure within about three and a half days, the app also downloads part of NOAA's GFS wind forecast from NOAA's open data on Amazon Web Services (noaa-gfs-bdp-pds.s3.amazonaws.com). These requests name only which forecast run and which forecast hours the app needs, and which byte ranges of the worldwide forecast file to send; they contain no identifier, no route and no location. Matching the forecast to your route happens on your iPhone. Like any web request, they reach Amazon Web Services from your IP address, under the policies of AWS and NOAA.
The airport list and the typical conditions for each route and month are built into the app, so searching for an airport and the typical estimate work without sending anything.
4. Reminders and Flight Mode
Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone: one 12 hours before departure, if you turn it on; the silent Breathe reminder before you fly, two hours before the departure of a saved trip, if you turn it on; and one shortly after the estimated arrival, if you choose it when boarding. Flight Mode on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island is a Live Activity updated on the device. No push server is involved and nothing leaves your iPhone.
5. What leaves your device
Apart from the Flight Conditions requests above, only purchases. If you buy the Trip Pass or Happy Landing Pro, the purchase is handled by Apple and processed by RevenueCat, our purchase provider: RevenueCat receives the App Store receipt and an anonymous app user ID, never your name, your email, your flights or your answers.
If you email support from the app, your mail app opens with only a subject line. What you write and send is up to you.
If you tap Share on a flight or a forecast, your iPhone's share sheet opens with what the screen shows. Whether and where you send it is up to you; the app sends nothing by itself.
6. What we do not collect
No analytics, no advertising identifiers, no tracking, no location, no contacts, no health data, no crash reports with personal data. We cannot see your flights, your answers, or when you felt scared.
7. Removing your data
You can delete a flight from the flight log with a swipe. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your iPhone, and cancels its pending reminders. Purchase records remain with Apple and RevenueCat as required for your receipt.
8. Third parties
Apple processes your purchase and delivers notifications and Live Activities under its own privacy policy. RevenueCat's privacy policy applies to purchase processing. The NOAA Aviation Weather Center answers the Flight Conditions requests under the policies of the US government service, and Amazon Web Services delivers the NOAA wind forecast files under the policies of AWS and NOAA.
9. Your rights
The only personal data processed on our behalf is the anonymous purchase record held by RevenueCat, used to deliver what you bought (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). You can ask for access to it or its deletion by writing to the address below. You can also lodge a complaint with the Hungarian data protection authority (NAIH, naih.hu) or the authority where you live.
10. Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version ships with an app update and appears on this page, and the date above changes.
